Smarter, Faster and Better Web Applications
Awnstudio Incorporated has been working exclusively with PALCS, known also as the Pennsylvania Leader Charter School, developing web-based applications for use within thier employee intranet and corporate websites. The most recent application which has moved out of the beta development phase is PHD (the PALCS Help Desk system). The PHD help desk is a reimplementation of a previously developed solution and has since been completely redesigned. We were commissioned by PALCS to create a new help desk application that would import student information from their opensource courseware application (Moodle), create technical support tickets using thier business logic with fewer steps, and be generally faster, smarter and more sophisticated without sacrificing performance and/or usability. So we took a long hard look at what existed on the opensource market, what was commercially available, and what they had in place currently. Awncorp has been developing high-end web applications powered using by MySQL for years now. We are please to annouce that we now employ MySQL 5 in our application development which provides support for views, stored procedures, triggers, new eninges, functions and more. Although we are well versed in developing for many leading database systems (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc ) we encourage the use of MySQL because of it's speed and reliability. Also MySQL is opensource, well documented and supported. Most newly developed Awncorp applications will use MySQL 5 innodb engine (with transaction support).
